Spring harvest is underway and giving us beautiful bunches of radishes!
This week we also have 3 kinds of head lettuce, a bagged mix of varieties, kale, & chard. Things to look forward to in the coming weeks are scallions, kohlrabi, & broccoli in early June.

With the extreme shifts in weather comes bounty, as well as loss.
These aren't the glamorous pics of lettuce, but they are the reality right now. The abnormally high temps, immediately followed by cold and high humidity, were not kind on the lettuce. We've lost hundreds of heads of lettuce so far, which is just devastating. Watching months of your labor, at the final hour, disappear is heartbreaking. But hey, that's farming! It's kind of what we sign up for. Mother Nature always has the final word. There's great risk, but also great rewards. It just means the successes are all the more celebrated!
(The middle picture is me freezing cold, washing lettuce, at 10pm in my down jacket!)
On the plant side, the greenhouse is bursting with blooms. The dahlias are starting to show off and we are starting to see blooms on the strawberries!
Vincas are also joining the party and the basil is prime.
Come shop with us this week in the Plant Greenhouse on Wednesday or Friday from 9am-12pm.
You can also place an online order for pick up on Wednesday from 11am-2pm.
