Having Snow Much Fun

We made the most of the winter storm last week and constructed a snow tubing course in our backyard! We had hours of fun building it, and many more hours enjoying it. :) Those of you picking up eggs last week might have overheard our squeals of joy!

a hot cup of tea on my walk out to the greenhouse.

This time of year we try to strike up a healthy balance of work to play before the labors of farming become all consuming. After our tubing adventures and birthday celebration, I spent the weekend in the warm sunny greenhouse deep cleaning. All of the shelves, that will soon hold thousands of plant babies, got a nice soapy scrub. Since we don't use any nasty chemical pesticides in our farm operation, it's extremely important to do everything we can to prevent the formation of disease, fungus, and pests. One of those ways is to start with a completely clean slate. Every surface, plant tray, pot, and tool gets washed and sanitized before we start our spring planting. It is often a long tedious job, but it's worth it in the long run.

Only 10 degrees outside, but almost 70 degrees in the greenhouse! Mid clean in the germination greenhouse.

Lots of farm fresh eggs available this week!
